Each employee should be familiar with the evacuation procedures, the location of the fire stairs and exits accessible for impaired persons. If the fire alarm sounds, evacuate immediately.
In an event that an evacuation of your floor is necessary, you should:
- Follow the instruction in this booklet for the applicable emergency situation.
- Listen to directions of fire wardens for evacuation.
- Follow the predetermined procedures for evacuating any impaired persons.
- Close the door to your office as you leave. Do not return for coats, purses, etc.
- Use enclosed stairwell. Do not use elevator.
- Keep talking to a minimum. Listen for instructions from authorized personnel and follow them.
- Use handrails on stairwells. Walk, do not run.
- When you reach the lobby, be prepared to merge with other people evacuating the building.
- Once out of the building move to open ground.
- Keep calm.
